Unless the bent pin is shorting to another pin the 5D2 should turn on whether it has a CF card in it or not. Try turning it on with out the CF card installed If it doesn't come on, it is not the fault of the bent pin. The camera needs service and Canon doesn't service the 5D2 anymore but private shops do. Sorry to hear that you are having problems with your 6D Mark II. What are the symptoms that you see on the camera? What have you tried so far to solve the problem? Options. 06-19-2017 08:33 AM. The first thing to look for is in your battery "door" Take a close look at it, you should see a micro switch that will prevent the camera from turning on when the battery is removed. Sometimes that switch gets stuck, or the little nib may even break off.

5. When you're in manual mode, you can shoot yourself in the foot all you want. This includes underexposing to the point of having a black frame. Check your meter. Unlike all the other automated modes, in M mode, the camera doesn't automatically adjust your settings to shove your meter's "needle" to 0.

I have a Canon 6D (mark 1) and I was looking to use my existing Speedlite 270EX II as an off-camera flash. The flash works great on the camera but it's not recognised off it. I bought a Yongnuo RF603C II wireless flash trigger in the hope that would allow my 270EX II to work off the camera but I just can't get the flash to work. If your camera will not power on, please attempt to charge your battery, or use a battery known to be fully charged. If your camera will still not power on, your camera will need to be serviced at a Canon Factory Service Center. Canon has excellent service options and we are eager to provide any assistance you may need. Solution. Consulting the service centers. Please confirm the following items if the camera does not work even if you pressed the button. Cleaning the battery terminals with a cotton swab if the terminals are dirty, and then re-inserting the battery several times. Contact failures may have occurred between the camera and the batteries. Close battery and memory card doors. Turn power switch to ON position, press shutter button and hold for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Turn power switch OFF. This should clear internal memory and reset to factory conditions. Refit battery, close door, turn power switch ON. Thanks for taking time to reply. If a 5D Mark II and using a grip, be sure the grip is tight. If a 1D Mark II, try a different battery or changing the date/time battery. If any of the Mark II lenses, sorry but I don't know how to turn a lens on. If a Jaguar Mark II, wow I wish I had one of these classics! But I fear the Jag had Lucas electrics which are super unreliable.
Elite. In response to kelly. Options. 07-02-2014 11:46 PM. If the camera thinks the battery door or memory card door are not fully closed, it will not switch on. Check to make sure the tabs on the doors (that press the little micro-swtich to indicate the door is closed) aren't damaged and that both doors completely close. Tim Campbell.
Canon 6D Mark ii. Hi All, I have a Canon 6D Mark ii just over a year old (out of warranty) that I haven't used in a few weeks, Took it out yesterday and turned it on. Dead as a door nail. Thought it might be the battery (Canon brand) so made sure it was charged to full. Put it back in, no joy.
About all you can do is check the interlock is not set to on, on the SD cards. Probably a good idea to reset the camera too. Menus, tools, clear all settings and clear all custom settings. Its pretty difficult to damage the SD pins in a 6D Mk II or any SD camera for that matter but it can be done. BTW, a new SD card is always a good idea. No flash is fired during this process either. Continue to hold the shutter button halfway until focus is achieved, at which point the image will return to the LCD. Then you can press the shutter button the rest of the way down to take the picture. The flash will fire and an image will be recorded. Turn the metal unit over and see if there are threaded holes (which would indicate tightening from inside the camera) or sheared off screw heads sticking out. John Hoffman.
